I-25 FRONTAGE ROAD LANE CLOSURE

The northbound and southbound I-25 Frontage Roads will be reduced to one lane each between Montgomery Boulevard/Montaño Road and Jefferson Street to begin work on the bridge over the North Diversion Channel. The left lane on the northbound I-25 Frontage Road will close as early as Oct. 14, 2024, through August 2025. The left lane on the southbound I-25 Frontage Road will close in November 2024 through August 2025.

I-25 SOUTHBOUND FRONTAGE ROAD LANE CLOSURE

The I-25 southbound Frontage Road (Pan American Freeway) will be reduced to one lane between Jefferson Street and Montgomery Boulevard from Sept. 14, 2024 to  Sept. 21, 2024 for roadwork. COMANCHE ROAD OVERNIGHT CLOSURES

Crews are beginning work on the I-25 bridge over Comanche Road. The bridge will be reconstructed in two phases, with the first starting on Aug. 14, 2024. Crews will demolish the outside of the bridge, with I-25 traffic shifted to the inside lanes.

​To accommodate this work, Comanche Road at I-25 will be closed weeknights from 8 p.m. till 6 a.m. Weekend nights the road will close at 10 p.m. till 8 a.m. starting Aug. 14 and continuing through the end of September. Drivers will be rerouted via Candelaria Road and Montgomery Boulevard. Drivers should anticipate heavy travel delays, plan ahead, and follow posted signage overnight.

I-25 IMPACTS

Starting as early as Aug. 12, crews will shift travel lanes on I-25 towards the median to begin work on the outside lanes. There will be three travel lanes open in each direction between Comanche Road and Montgomery Boulevard during the daytime. Click here to see a detailed map of the lane shift.  

The speed limit in the work zone has been reduced to 55 mph. Please slow down and use caution.

TYPICAL OVERNIGHT I-25 LANE CLOSURES DETAILS

During the week, travel lanes on I-25 will close at 8 p.m. each night and reopen by 6 a.m. each morning, in time for the morning commute. Crews will close one lane at 8 p.m. and another lane at 10 p.m., keeping one lane open in each direction. All lanes will be reopened by 6 a.m. each morning.

During the weekend, travel lanes on I-25 will close at 10 p.m. each night and reopen by 9 a.m. each morning. Crews will close one lane at 10 p.m. and another lane at 11 p.m., keeping one lane open in each direction. All lanes will be reopened by 9 a.m. each morning.

INTERCHANGE IMPACTS

Beginning as early as Sept. 3, the westbound Montgomery Boulevard loop ramp to southbound I-25 will permanently close. Traffic on westbound Montgomery Boulevard will access southbound I-25 by turning left onto the frontage road. An additional left-turn lane will be added to Montgomery Boulevard to accommodate the added traffic turning left.

Lanes on Comanche Road and Montgomery Boulevard at the interchange will be shifted to accommodate the work zone.

 

Comanche Road at I-25 is reduced to one lane in each direction during this first phase of work to accommodate bridge reconstruction.

​​GENERAL INFORMATION

Lane closures on I-25, ramps, frontage roads, and Montgomery Boulevard will usually happen during off-peak times (outside of rush hours and on weekends).

Drivers can expect uneven pavement on the roadway and should use caution while traveling through the work zone.

​​Construction will occur both day and night, up to seven days a week. Our team will keep this page up to date with specific activities that may impact you.
